- To register, please click the "2019 High School Soloist Competition Online Application" button above and fill out the form to submit your information. Registration for this event closes on February 25, 2019. No late applications will be accepted.
- The competition will take place during the 2019 Montana Flute Festival on Saturday, March 30, in Howard Hall on the Montana State University Bozeman Campus. Pending the number of applicants, the competition may be split in to two separate rounds. In the event of a two-round competition, all performers will perform their required accompanied piece in the morning, and 3-5 finalists will be selected to perform their entire program (Ferroud and Bach) in the afternoon. You will receive an email from the Competition Coordinator by March 1 with the details of the competition as well as your performance time.
- All applicants must be current members of the Montana Flute Association and currently in grades 9-12. Previous 1st prize winners are ineligible to compete.
- There is a non-refundable application fee of $25, to be paid at the time you register for the competition.
- All performances are open to the public.
- All judges’ decisions are final, and not all prizes need be awarded.
- The contact information for the MFA’s official competition pianist will be e-mailed to all registered competitors following the deadline. The fee for a 30-minute rehearsal and for your competition performance(s) is $50, paid directly to the pianist.
- You must have an original score with you for the performance. You may keep the original with you or perform with it – it is your choice. Copyright laws state that you must have an original copy of the work present when you perform.
- *** In the event that there are not enough competitors for this competition, you will be notified by Wednesday February, 27, 2019 regarding the status of the competition.
